Hosting capacity assessment

Capacity type considered for available hosting capacity information (e.g., Firm and/or Flexible) Firm
Description of what firm capacity means Firm capacity is capacity available at all times of the year. Vattenfall Eldistribution retains the right to curtail production for maintainance.
Description of the aspects/methodology that leads to firm capacity results The firm capacity results are calculated with respect to thermal N-0 (production) and N-1 limits (consumption) in the regional grid. The analysis in the regional grid is based on power flow calculations and does not consider dynamic or short-circuit behaviour. Voltage analysis has not been included, and only standard grid user profiles have been taken into account. Current grid utilisation is considered as well as customer who have paid grid study fee in order to estimate the remaining indication of available capacity. The firm capacity results in the local grid are only based calculations in the regional grid and on the assumption of the subscription level from overlying grid.
Description for the criteria and methodologies used that lead to the published information The calculations are performed automatically through a power flow algorithm and the results manually validated before being published.
Main assumptions/disclaimers behind calculations The results in the capacity map for the regional grid are only indicative and do not replace a connection request. The calculations only take the thermal limits of the regional grid into account. The results in the capacity map for the local grid are only indicative and do not replace a connection request. The calculations only take the thermal limits of the local grid into account.
Additional information The capacity map shows information about our regional grid. The underlying grid can be our grid or other DSO grid.

Additional information for connection request and hosting capacity information

Connection request procedure When you require a connection exceeding 1 MW, you submit a request for an energy‑intensive connection to the local distribution network in the area you are interested in. If your local electricity distribution company determines that your operation needs to be connected directly to Vattenfall Eldistribution’s regional grid, they will inform you of this.
Available options for the investors if the map shows “no capacity available” in their interested area If the map shows low or no available capacity for new connections, it is still possible to submit a connection request. As part of such an assessment:detailed customer‑specific and area‑specific data are used, rather than standard assumptions, technical alternatives are examined, changes in existing connection requests are taken into account, solutions may be identified that are not reflected in the capacity map. Interest in flexible solutions should be stated in the formal connection request.
Connection request rules/principles First-come-first-serve
