The TSO, SONI, is planning to publish indicative hosting capacity information for transmission-connected generation and demand customers in Northern Ireland. The information will be derived from the Generation and Demand Opportunity Analysis undertaken as part of the Ten-Year Transmission Forecast Statement (TYTFS), providing a high-level view of the transmission system's capability to accommodate additional generation and demand at specific transmission locations.
The published information will present nodal-level indications of potential connection opportunities across the Northern Ireland transmission system based on transmission planning studies and applicable security standards. The analysis is intended to support early-stage engagement and provide greater transparency to prospective customers and stakeholders regarding areas where connection opportunities may exist.
The published values will be indicative and non-binding and will not represent guaranteed or reserved connection capacity. Capacity assessments are based on the assumptions and methodologies used in the TYTFS and may change as network infrastructure, generation, demand forecasts and connection assumptions evolve. The information is intended as pre-feasibility guidance only and will not replace the established connection application and assessment process, through which detailed project-specific studies will continue to determine actual connection capability.
